What a year... . Thank goodness for the kind people, the ones who kept on working in hospitals and shops and testing centres and garages and care homes. The ones who kept the power on and the water running and the roads safe.
Thank goodness for the scientists.
I spent a good deal of the time finishing a book. The Swallows' Flight, a companion to The Skylarks' War, published two years ago. It's the story of what happened to the characters a generation later. It will be published in May.
If I can, I will add some pages from the text, to give a little preview. Watch this space.
Meanwhile, I am so glad to hear that The Skylarks' War has been shortlisted for the Bolton Children's Book Award. It has been a lucky book, with a Carnegie longlisting as well as The Costa Children's Book Prize.
